Marketing Support Consultancy is seeking qualified and motivated professionals to fill the position of Senior Research Officer / Research Officer in Accra. This role is ideal for individuals with strong research, analytical, and reporting skills who are passionate about evidence-based policy and development work.
Job Purpose
The Senior Research Officer / Research Officer will be responsible for designing, implementing, and managing high-quality quantitative and qualitative research projects that inform policy formulation, programme design, and strategic decision-making.
The role supports evidence-based interventions across economic development, private sector development, agriculture, value chains, entrepreneurship, and SME development, ensuring methodological rigor, analytical depth, and practical, actionable insights for clients and stakeholders.
Key Responsibilities
Research Design & Methodology
- Contribute to and/or lead the design of research studies, including research frameworks, methodologies, and sampling strategies.
- Develop quantitative and qualitative data collection tools such as questionnaires, interview guides, focus group discussion guides, and observation instruments.
Project Management
- Support the day-to-day management of research projects, including work planning, timelines, field coordination, and quality assurance processes.
- Coordinate and manage multicultural and geographically dispersed research teams in complex operating environments.
Leadership (Senior Research Officer Level)
- Provide technical leadership and oversight to research teams, including field supervisors, enumerators, and data analysts.
- Ensure high-quality data collection and adherence to ethical research standards.
Data Analysis & Reporting
- Manage and analyze quantitative data using tools such as SPSS, Excel, or other statistical software.
- Conduct qualitative data analysis, including thematic coding, synthesis, and interpretation of findings.
- Translate raw data into clear insights, trends, and evidence-based conclusions.
Reporting & Presentation
- Draft high-quality research outputs, including inception reports, baseline and endline studies, policy briefs, technical reports, and presentations.
- Develop clear analytical narratives and actionable recommendations tailored to client and stakeholder needs.
- Prepare and deliver professional presentations to clients, policymakers, donors, and other stakeholders.
Qualifications & Experience
Education
- Bachelor’s degree in Marketing, Development Studies, Social Sciences, Economics, Psychology, or a related discipline.
- A postgraduate qualification in a relevant field is an added advantage, particularly for the Senior Research Officer role.
Professional Experience
- Minimum of 3 years’ professional experience in market research, socio-economic research, or policy-oriented research.
- Experience working on donor-funded, government, or private sector research projects is highly desirable.
Technical Skills & Competencies
- Advanced proficiency in Microsoft Word and Microsoft Excel.
- Strong understanding of research methodologies, data collection techniques, and analytical approaches.
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
- Strong organizational, coordination, and stakeholder management abilities.
