We’re now hiring an exceptional Head of Recruitment to lead, optimize, and scale our end-to-end recruitment engine.
Role Summary
As the Head of Recruitment, you will own and scale Talent by BYP’s global talent operations. This is a senior leadership role combining strategy, execution, and innovation.
You will design and oversee systems that consistently source, screen, and place elite African and Caribbean talent for global clients — while leading a distributed team of recruiters and operators.
This role is ideal for a builder with deep recruitment expertise, strong people leadership skills, and hands-on experience leveraging AI tools and automation in high-growth environments.
Key Responsibilities
Leadership & Recruitment Strategy
- Build, manage, and mentor a high-performing recruitment team across Africa and the Caribbean
- Define and execute the long-term recruitment strategy aligned with company growth goals
- Design scalable sourcing, screening, and placement workflows optimized for speed and quality
- Set and monitor recruitment KPIs including time-to-fill, pipeline quality, retention, and placement success
- Develop internal playbooks, training frameworks, and documentation for team scalability
Global Talent Operations
- Lead high-volume recruitment and delivery across multiple countries
- Oversee candidate quality control from application through onboarding
- Embed AI-powered tools and automation across sourcing, screening, and assessment processes
- Ensure compliance with labor laws, contracts, and remote hiring standards across markets
- Scale and maintain a multilingual, role-based, remote-ready talent database
Client Delivery & Relationship Management
- Partner with business development and leadership teams to understand client hiring needs
- Ensure delivery of pre-vetted candidates within 1–2 weeks of client briefs
- Act as a trusted advisor to clients on remote hiring, African talent markets, and workforce trends
- Maintain high placement success rates, reduce churn, and increase repeat client engagement
Growth, Innovation & Optimization
- Lead large-scale recruitment funnels (1,000+ candidates per role or project)
- Continuously optimize and automate sourcing, screening, and onboarding workflows
- Stay ahead of global recruitment trends, especially AI, remote work, and talent mobility
- Identify new tools, systems, and partnerships to improve efficiency and candidate experience
Requirements
Experience
- 15+ years of experience in recruitment, talent acquisition, or human capital management
- Proven leadership in multi-country and cross-border hiring, especially within Africa
- Experience hiring across both corporate environments and high-growth startups
- Track record of hiring or managing recruitment for 1,000+ professionals
- Demonstrated experience handling high-volume applicant pipelines (100,000+ candidates)
- Experience building or leading remote-first or global recruitment operations is highly preferred
Skills & Competencies
- Exceptional written, verbal, and cross-cultural communication skills
- Deep understanding of full-cycle recruitment: sourcing, interviewing, placement, and onboarding
- Strong analytical mindset with a data-driven approach to KPIs and process improvement
- Proficiency with modern ATS platforms, sourcing tools, and recruitment automation systems
- AI-literate, with hands-on experience using tools such as ChatGPT, Workello, TestGorilla, or similar
- Comfortable operating in fast-paced, high-growth, and ambiguous environments
- Strong builder mindset — equally effective creating systems from scratch and optimizing existing ones
Nice to Have
- Experience with remote-first, freelance, or talent marketplace business models
- Exposure to payroll management, HR compliance, and contractor onboarding
- Strong familiarity with African tech and talent ecosystems (Nigeria, Ghana, Kenya, South Africa)
