As a Regulatory Risk Advisor Trainee, you’ll gain hands-on experience across multiple compliance areas while building the skills necessary to launch a successful career in banking and financial services.

    About the Role

    As a Trainee, you will support the SVP of Canadian Banking, Global Wealth Management, International Banking, and Corporate Functions Compliance. This rotational role provides exposure to various teams, giving you a deep understanding of regulatory risk and compliance practices. You will work on meaningful projects, analyze business processes, and develop insights that contribute to Scotiabank’s global compliance objectives.

    Key Responsibilities

    • Support the SVP in managing daily priorities, including scheduling and calendar management.
    • Analyze and interpret data to generate actionable insights that strengthen the regulatory risk program.
    • Develop problem-solving and analytical skills to enhance business decision-making.
    • Prepare presentations, progress reports, and communications for senior management and stakeholders.
    • Assist in planning and executing team-wide events such as Town Halls.
    • Present findings and recommendations to internal teams, refining communication and presentation skills.
    • Collaborate on high-level projects with senior management and peers.
    • Draft, edit, and distribute department-wide communications.
    • Track and monitor action items from meetings, expenses, and other administrative data.

    Education & Experience

    • Bachelor’s degree from an accredited university.
    • Ability to thrive in a fast-paced, dynamic environment and adapt to change.
    • Growth mindset with curiosity and capacity for rapid learning.
    • Proficiency in MS Office, particularly Excel and PowerPoint.
    • Strong verbal and written communication skills.
    • Exceptional organizational skills to manage multiple initiatives under tight deadlines.
    • High level of discretion and integrity in handling confidential matters.
    • Good interpersonal skills and flexibility.
    • Fluency in English; Spanish is an asset.
